My name is Colin, and I started my first job at 15 where I cleaned bathrooms and lifeguarded at the local town pool. I also picked up shifts in the warehouse at my dad’s small business. A “can-do” spirit and a willingness to “roll up my sleeves” are in my DNA.
Inspired to serve my country, I joined the U.S. Navy after high school and attended the U.S. Naval Academy. After graduation, I embarked on an 11-year career in Naval Aviation and deployed 6 times.
The hard work ethic instilled by my father built a strong foundation for me. I first learned about servant leadership by watching him manage the company and the livelihoods of the 35 employees, all who felt like family, through the uncertainty brought on by the September 11 terror attacks and the economic challenges caused by the Great Financial Crisis in 2008.
When I was entrusted with 36 Sailors to perform maintenance and upkeep our helicopters on deployment, I followed his “lead by example” approach. It worked, and I enjoyed being around these Sailors – in the hangar, on the flight deck, or in the mechanic shops – wherever we needed to be to get the job done.
My experiences as a Naval Aviator, Division Officer, and Department Head furthered the lessons taught by my father and developed me into an organizational leader who prioritizes teamwork, humility, hard work, and integrity to drive success.
Along the way, I met my wife and life-partner, Claire. Shortly before the birth of our second child, we decided that it was time for my military career to close and to refocus on preparing for an opportunity that we believe matches my strengths and what I love to do– small business ownership.
With that goal in mind, I went back to school to further my education at Harvard Business School and worked in project management and corporate finance at two public companies. In these roles, I learned to translate my military experiences to the private sector – both building new skills in financial planning and operations and continuing to develop my leadership ability.
In November 2024, I founded Pinebrook Legacy to find and buy a small business and fulfill my family’s collective desire to connect and contribute to our local community.
Please feel free to review my resume, and I look forward to hearing from you!
